Date: Fri, 2 Aug 2002 13:27:13 -0400 (EDT) From: Louis Epstein Subject: WTC Rebuilding...Good Editorial,NYCS Board Trashed,How to Help This email is going to well over 800 people, now, who have gone on record as favoring reconstruction of the Twin Towers or other structures not one inch shorter at the World Trade Center site. I acknowledge again the contribution by Erik Sieb of some addresses of supporters of his design at newwtcproject.com...other additions this time include Marc Fenster and Richard Krasney from the online-LTTC sessions, and a young man who posted on the NYCS message board about his experience when he was in one tower when the plane hit,and got out, while his uncle was in the other tower, and did not...and he wants the Towers back. This email is as always designed to inform people on the battles to get the full-scale reconstruction that we are fighting for,and how we can help turn the tide...and as always all one has to do to be removed from the mailing list is ask.I have been sending these emails out at varying intervals since September 15th,but have to keep reminding new additions of these details...apologies to veteran readers. Speaking of the New York City Skyline message board,it was apparently trashed overnight, just about the entire contents gone, not sure if it can be recovered. This has been one of the main online channels of communications for pro-rebuilders for many months now,I don't know if parent theopinion.com cares. The message board at http://www.cbsnewyork.com/message/ground/ is up and running...we can post there whenever we like. The New York Post has come out with some very good opinion pieces today: http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/editorial/46030.htm The newspaper itself, like many readers polled and the contributors to its web board and rebuild@nypost.com special letters section, comes out in favor of restoring the Twin Towers. http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/opedcolumnists/46025.htm Steve Cuozzo points out the longterm SHORTAGE of Manhattan office space that should be addressed by the rebuilding of the WTC. The online Listening To The City is in full swing. Today the "Hopes and Concerns Wrap-Up" moves on to the simultaneous discussions of What-to-Build and Revitalizing. IF YOU GOT INTO ONLINE-LTTC IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that you put your HOPE for buildings not one inch shorter than the former Towers in terms of roof, antenna,or occupied human space, and your CONCERN that the arguments against such buildings might prevail when they ought not to,in a WRAP-UP topic... these are the ones the "theme team" analogues are likely to use as the basis for future polls and proposed topics. The earlier Hope/Concern stuff is seen as the worksheets, the Wrap-Up topics as what got input on the computers, if you recall the face-to-face LTTC format. I was very disappointed to see Gary Taustine, one of the most vocal pro-rebuilders,announce that he was quitting after being given a hard time.We need to "take a licking and keep on ticking",folks...be the last ones standing. I can certainly empathize with the frustration he and others have felt but hope he reconsiders(maybe he has). David Peterson noted on the NYCS board, before it was trashed, that apparently THOSE OF US REJECTED BY THE LTTC ORGANIZERS CAN STILL LOG IN AND VOTE IN POLLS despite not being assigned to a group.I have tested this as far as login goes, but not tried to vote. Richard Krasney announced in his group a camapaign to get 50,000 signatures from people who'd work in new at-least-as-tall Towers.Haven't seen a precise petition but of course I commend my "soft petition" at http://www.put.com/wtc/petition.html and the others linked to at http://www.put.com/wtc/ bear mention. Volunteers for the petition/literature table at Federal Hall, which should start by a week from tomorrow, probably before, are still needed.Gary Taustine will be contributing T-shirts and pins with his gramercynews.com Rebuild logo. His gramercynews.com site has a big list of lawmaker and media email addresses that may be of use. ANYONE READING THIS should send their site plan comments to the lmdc@empire.state.ny.us address or the mailing address listed on the link page [above] whatever their detailed views...remind them their plans are too short and uninspiring, whether you prefer Yamasaki-exactly, the Erik Sieb design, the Derek Turner design,or something else.We must expose them to as many voices as possible united behind the demand that we rebuild NOT ONE INCH SHORTER. When I complete my detailed comments I will,as before, distribute my text to the entire list. See you on the 111th floor on 9-11-11! -=-=- The World Trade Center towers MUST rise again, at least as tall as before...or terror has triumphed.
